For many years I had promised
myself I would go to Mud Bulls & Music at Landcruiser park, year after
year it didn't happen for what ever reason. 2010 I finally bought the
tickets, arranged the time off and nothing was stopping me this time.
Below is Mud Bulls & Music as I saw it. I hope you enjoy it as
much as I did.

Bundaberg
Rum Bucking Thunder Rodeo Spectacular
On Saturday
and Sunday night we sat glued to the edge our seats as we watched these
mad bastards trying to ride a crazy, wild, bucking bull for eight
seconds. Some did, many didn't. We saw many injuries through
out the two nights and we were most definitely entertained for the
duration. The thing that amazed me was how tough these guys are,
they get thrown off, kicked, trampled and horned, yet they get
themselves up from the dirt, hold their injuries with one arm and make
their own way over the rails then off to the ambulance guys for a quick
fix, then they line up to do it all over again. Call it brave,
call it crazy, maybe it's both, I don't know. What I do know is
there is absolutely no bloody way that you would get me on the back of
one those mad bastards.

On Thursday we decided to drive around and
test the Paj out on a few tracks. We came across Telecom Hill which
was rated difficult, we watched a few guys do a u-turn and bypass the track
all together, so we thought we should walk the track before we made a
decision. Even though my daughter was struggling to stand up on the
track I was pretty confident in the Pajero and my capabilities so we buckled
the seat belts, locked her into low range, picked my line and gave it a
go.

Later we found the Pig Pen and decided to
check it out. We watched a couple Nissan Patrols from a distance drive
through one of the mud pits with ease, so I figured I would have a go.
The thing I didn't pick up on when watching from a distance was that one
Patrol had an 8" lift and 35" tyres, the other had a 6" lift
with 33" tyres. I plunged in to find huge tyre ruts which didn't
allow my Pajero with 31" tyres to go very far at all before I found my
self beached with no traction.

Luckily the guys were still around
and snatched us out. They very kindly offered for us to tag along with
them for a while so we did. We followed them through Claw Gorge which
was a very tight and slightly challenging track, the Pajero performed beautifully
and I think these guys were a little surprised how easily the Paj handled
it.

We headed back to Telecom Hill and the
Nissan boys had a play in the ruts at the bottom

Camp Hill was rated as extreme so we hung
around for while, while the boys in the big toys had a play. This track
was just a little to wild for the Paj, even though she wanted to give it a
go I had to hold her back.

After a long dusty day we headed to the
camp for a shower, cold beer and a nice hot meal. For some strange
reason we found ourselves carrying on like fruit loops and pulling silly
faces at each other.
