My 15 year old son has been bitten by the offroad bug and decided he wanted to buy a Suzuki Sierra for his first car.  He browsed Auszookers.com and found this little zook at Ipswich, He handed over is hard earned $1000 from his after school job and that was that, Jake has just purchased his first car and now the fun begins.  Bookmark this page and follow our journey as we strip this zook back, give it a paint job, a lift, new seats, and well, pretty much rebuild the whole thing.

Ask Robo or Jake a question or send suggestions for the build up

The bullbar comes up like brand new with a few coats of black enamel A few coats of white enamel give the cruddy old rims a new lease on life.
All the black pieces, vents, etc, have now been fitted back into the dash after giving them a few coats of gloss black vinyl paint making a huge improvement.

DAY 5 - 06/03/2010 - Zook gets pulled apart to prepare for painting

-
new paint on gear sticks and hand brake make them a little more respectable splash a bit of paint around the hubs Jake resprays the flares
-
The bar looks great soapy water and a green scourer gets all the over spray off the tyres The clean tyres on painted rims go back on the car
-
A bit of tyre spray brings them back to life Jake screws the spotties back on but not connected yet as the bar has to come off shortly so we can spray the body work
-
A quick last look before we start pulling her apart ready for paint The steering wheel found off a much older Sierra goes on, we just need to track down the horn to match
-
The dash now looks complete We start pulling the Zook apart so we can begin sanding and preparing for paint
-

Jakes has chosen and purchased a great looking metalic green for the body so keep watching this space, more to come soon.

We start pulling the Zook apart so we can begin sanding and preparing for paint Zook starts to look very bare

Stuffing around in the paddock

As Jake is only 15 he doesn't have a license yet so he so to get used to the clutch he practises in the yard.  He doesn't have the smoothest take off yet, burns a few worms with a little wheel spin but he is getting the hang of it The boys decide to have some fun, of course it's more fun with your mate, Dad........where going cruisin in the ahhh....back yard.
A few kangaroo jumps, a couple of wheel spins and a few stalls, makes good viewing. Hey dude..look at us, where cruisin, doin laps of the.......ahh yard. Lets crank some tunes dude.  (notice the high quality upside down bucket seats)
Watch out, it's got reverse.
DAY 6 - 03/05/2010 - Sanding and Primer
-
Jake has been slowly sanding his car over the last few weeks but was struggling to stay motivated, some how he managed to bribe his mate Chris into helping finish of the sanding.  I think that I threatened to sell his car to wreckers if he didn't get into it may of been part of his sudden motivation too
-
Jake and Chris are powering along, all masked up and almost ready for the first primer coat.  At this stage Jake is getting excited, he can see some light at the end of the tunnel
-
The car gets the final blow down, we hang drop sheets so i don't get over spray all over my camping gear and we wet the floor down to reduce dust and over spray.
-
After not using my spray guns for about 7 years they needed a major clean to get them flowing freely again, Jake was looking eagerly at his watch hoping we would get the gun cleaned before the end of the day.  Finally, the first primer coat goes on.
-
1st primer coat is on, the shed is cleaned up, time for a beer.  Stay tuned, the colour won't be too far away.  I think the metallic green Jake has chosen is going to look awesome, it should stand out in a crowd.
